Aur, week#29

The success we had with bike riding a few days ago was a one-timer. She refused to try again.

When we got here, last fall, I bought bikes for all three of them, in a garage sale. Keshet got a tricycle in her exact size. Neta got the smaller bikes and Aur's were too big, according to her.
Since it was fall anyway we told her she needs to grow during winter so she'd fit the bikes by spring time.
Spring came and we had that good experience with Neta's bike, but still – no try with her own bikes.
Her reason was: the lack of helmet for her.

This week Yuval got a chance to buy one. it wasn't easy since there were about a 100 of them in the right size. He had to choose between different shades of pink and red and purple, considering the reaction of her sisters (they might envy). Eventually he got something pinky enough but not too much.
Aur was thrilled.

Morning came, sun was in the sky, birds were singing. time to try.
Finally she tried her own bikes. They fit!

We went all together (3 of them on bikes, one mom on her feet) for a ride-walk in the neighbourhood.
I know I can't keep them under my wings for long. Can't and shouldn't. I'd better let them go and have the proper knowledge to get along.

So I taught them how to behave on the roads and the intersections, where is the main road and how dangerous it is. I told them the rules of riding without a chaperon and mentioned that soon they will be going by themselves.

Aur:
"If one dollar worth 4 shekels and there are 4 quarters in one dollar then one quarter equals one shekel"

In the last few weeks Aur turned to be very active physically. Skiing at least once a week, doing Aikido once a week (now she's doing it twice a week!) and spontaneous outdoor activities (like gardening, playing in the yard, cycling) almost every day (weather permitting). She turned into a more solid girl. She is not all air and mind anymore.
